Job Description:
Creates and implements policies and procedures for the Ogden Honors College Career Development Office. Advises Honors College students in all aspects of career development, including choosing career paths, resume writing, and preparing for interviews. Identifies and advises students seeking postgraduate fellowships. Assists students in obtaining experiential education opportunities through internships, research experience, and community service. Manages the Honors College co-curricular theme of Service, overseeing the Ogden Leaders program, Project 225, Service Saturdays, as well as fosters and creates additional service opportunities for students within the community. Trains and advises Honors Academic Counselors on a 1:1 basis to provide assistance to Honors College students and move them into the career development pipeline.
Job Responsibilities
Creates and implements policies and procedures for the Ogden Honors College Career Development Office. Manages the services and resources of the Honors College career development office by developing career-oriented workshops, panels, and training in interviewing skills. Creates co-curricular events to prepare students for post-graduate professional opportunities. Offers customized career advising, providing routine interpretation of various placement, occupational, vocational, and interest tests.(35%)
Manages the Project 225, the Ogden Leaders Program, and Service Saturdays calendars and resources, creating and maintaining connections for student service within the community. Endeavors to create new and lasting partnerships with local and state government officials and community partners to provide new service opportunities for students.(30%)
Provides 1:1 mentoring of Academic Counselors and supervises their general career counseling service for individual students, which includes discussion of students' values, philosophy, life goals, career information, and testing. Supervises a Career Services Coordinator who will support the Career Services Manager in preparing Honors students to apply and interview for internships, jobs, and scholarships. Prepares and reconciles career development office expense reports, plans group excursions, and creates internship and service opportunities for students. (20%)
Collaborates with the Manager of Fellowship Advising to identify potential students and prepare them to apply for prestigious fellowships and post-graduate opportunities; collaborates with the Director of Development to identify and create internship opportunities and manage donor resources. (10%)
Compiles and maintains data on internships and career outcomes for Honors students. Prepares reports as needed or requested by campus leadership and the Foundation. Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Additional Requirements
FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health-related matter, they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students, or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience
Specific Experience: Successful development and implementation of career services for students in a higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications
Master of Social Work (MSW) and 5 years of experience
