This position is per diemMassachusetts General Hospital (MGH), located in Boston, MA currently has an opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our cutting-edge Inpatient Oncology team, caring for inpatients with Solid Tumors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of patients on a 36-bed unit in collaboration with oncologists and the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include:
• Participating in daily interdisciplinary rounds
• Collaboratively develop and implement care plans
• Coordinating tests and consultations, communicating with referring clinicians and consults, performing patient education, and preparing patients for discharge.

• 36-bed oncology unit, located on the inpatient hospital (Main) campus.
• Providers are responsible for coverage 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
• Shifts are 13hrs. Day/Night Rotation. Day hours: 6:30am-7:30pm, Night Hours: 6:30pm-7:30am. Night requirements are minimal.
Experience for per diem position:
• Minimum 2 years of APP required
• Minimum 2 years of prior experience in an acute care/inpatient environment (either as RN or APP), with medicine, ICU or oncology experience highly desirable.
• Master’s degree in nursing, national certification in advanced practice nursing OR master’s degree in physician associate studies, with certification by NCCPA.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures

Master's Degree Nursing required

Experience
Experience as a nurse practitioner 2 year preferred
