As a successful candidate, you will:

The Hematology unit delivers specialized, comprehensive care to patients with blood-related cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The unit also has expertise in caring for patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy and those enrolled in clinical research trials. Using multidisciplinary approach, the team diagnoses, treats and manages a wide range of hematologic malignancies.

We are seeking dedicated, knowledgeable nurses who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, sound clinical judgement and compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities include:

Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with hematologic malignancies, including physical evaluations, medical history reviews, and symptom assessments such as fatigue, bruising, or bleeding. Monitor vital signs, laboratory values, and treatment responses to promptly identify changes in condition.

Chemotherapy Administration:
Safely administer chemotherapy and other systemic therapies in accordance with established protocols. Verify accurate dosing, monitor for adverse reactions, and provide supportive interventions to reduce treatment-related complications.

Symptom Management:
Assess and manage symptoms related to both disease and treatment, including pain, nausea, anemia, and neutropenia. Administer medications, implement comfort measures, and educate patients on self-management strategies to enhance comfort and quality of life.

Patient and Family Education:
Provide clear education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, expected side effects, and symptom management. Offer guidance on medication adherence and connect patients with supportive resources such as nutrition services, counseling, and financial assistance.

Care Coordination:

Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to create and carry our individualized care plans. Coordinate diagnostic testing, appointments, and specialty consultations to ensure continuity of care across the treatment journey.

Full time Nights 7pm - 7:30am

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required
  • Current California RN license
  • Minimum of 1-3 years related experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • Chemotherapy/ Biotherapy Certificate or Chemotherapy/ Immunotherapy Certificate (Must be obtained within 6 months of hire)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $55.62 - $61.67 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
