Salary Range
$45,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Internship Coordinator oversees the internship program for undergraduate and graduate students in all five academic colleges. This essential role connects academic learning to practical experience, providing students with valuable skills and connections for their future careers. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty, academic advisors, and industry partners to develop and expand internship opportunities for students, serving as the primary point of contact for students seeking internships, matching students with appropriate opportunities based on their career interests, academic background, and skills, maintaining accurate records of student placements and outcomes, continuously assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of the program, preparing regular reports on the status and outcomes of the program, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, and cultivating and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national employers to create a robust network of internship providers.
1. Internship Program Development: Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and industry partners to develop and expand internship opportunities for students in alignment with their academic programs.
2. Student Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for students seeking internships, providing guidance, resources, and support to help them identify suitable opportunities.
3. Internship Placement: Match students with appropriate internship opportunities based on their career interests, academic background, and skills.
4. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of student placements, internship agreements, and outcomes to track the success and impact of the internship program.
5. Program Management & Evaluation: Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the internship program, collect feedback from students and employers, and make improvements as necessary.
6. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on the status and outcomes of the internship program for the Director of Career Services and internal and external stakeholders.
7. Compliance: Ensure that internship programs comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines, including those related to academic credit, compensation, and workplace safety.
8. Employer Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national employers to create a robust network of internship providers. This includes regular outreach and collaboration with industry partners to understand their needs and connect them with our students.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Two years of experience in project management.
4. Familiarity with college campus dynamics and academic structures.
5. Ability to build and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and employers.
6. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
7. Enthusiasm for supporting student success and career development.
8. Proficiency in data management and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in career counseling, advising, or related fields.
2. Knowledge of internship program development and management.
3. Understanding of legal and ethical issues related to internships.

Conditions of Employment

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
